This Privacy Policy describes how Faith Leaders for Ending Gun Violence (FLEGV) collects, uses, and shares information about you in connection with your use of our website (www.flegv.org), our map (www.faithactionmap.org), and the webpages thereof (collectively, “Site”), communications (e.g., emails, phone calls, and texts), and web and mobile applications (“Apps”). The Site, Apps, and communications are collectively referred to herein as the “Services.” The terms “we,” “us,” and “FLEGV” each refer to Faith Leaders for Ending Gun Violence (FLEGV), a Washington D.C. non-profit corporation.
When you use the Services, you consent to our collection, use, and disclosure of information about you as described in this Privacy Policy.
Information Collection & Use
We may collect, transmit, and store personal information about you (“Personal Data”) in connection with your use of the Services, including any information you send to or through the Services, such as by registering, posting content, communicating with FLEGV, making a donation to FLEGV, submitting feedback, or sending or receiving messages on the Services. Personal data includes information obtained directly from you, as well as indirectly through electronic communications and third parties. In particular Personal Data may include without limitation, name, email address, home address, telephone number, date of birth, and affiliated organization(s).
We may use the information we collect from you for lawful purposes including, but not limited to:
- Responding to user requests;
- Engaging in research and analysis relating to the Services;
- Generating content for users related to upcoming events;
- Sending you notifications and/or information about FLEGV or other organizations we think may be of interest;
- Personalizing your experience across the Services;
- Operating and improving the Services, including backing up our systems
- Enhancing security of the Services, including identifying and/or remedying potential security threats;
- Tracking usage of the Services;
- Providing feedback to third party partners;
- Marketing the Services;
- Providing user/customer support
- Complying with legal obligations;
- With your consent or for any other purpose stated at the time of collection.
Even when we do not retain such information, it still must be transmitted to our servers initially and stored long enough to process.
When you interact with FLEGV through use of the Services, your email address will automatically be added to our mailing list. You may choose to opt out of future email communications by selecting the unsubscribe option contained therein, or by submitting a request to us at info@flegv.org with the subject line “Unsubscribe.”
By participating or taking action through use of the Services, including without limitation, contacting other users or organizations in our network, engaging in discussions, and posting content , you agree that the information that you provide, such as your name, email address, organizational affiliation, and/or username, may be available to other users and/or the public, subject to your Account settings as discussed below.
From time to time, using publicly available information, we may reach out to individuals or organizations aligned with FLEGV’s mission for the purpose of expanding and/or enhancing the content of the Services and our network by sharing your publicly available information. If you receive such a communication from FLEGV, you may decline participation in these public features by either responding with your choice, or by failing to affirmatively communicate your desire to participate. Only those users who affirmatively respond will be included in content publicly posted by FLEGV.
Account Information
If you register with the Services, you may be asked to create a username and password to access content (“Account”). We store and use the Personal Data and any other information you may provide during the Account creation process.
We may combine the Account information you provide through the Services with any information you provide to us through other channels. We may also receive information about you from third parties and combine it with the Account information that you provide.
- Account settings. As part of your Account settings, you may choose to allow or not allow FLEGV to publicly display your username, picture, or other content you submit through the account creation process. We also store and use any preferences you provide to personalize your Account, If you believe that someone has created an unauthorized account using your personal information, you can request its removal by flagging it.
- Communications: When you sign up for an account or use certain features of the Services, you are opting to receive messages from other users, businesses, and FLEGV. You can manage some of your messaging preferences through your account settings, but note that you cannot opt out of receiving certain administrative, transactional, or legal messages from FLEGV. If you exchange messages with others through the Services, we may store them in order to process and deliver them, allow you to manage them, and we may review and disclose them in connection with investigations related to use of the Services, as well as our efforts to improve the Services. We may not deliver messages that we believe are objectionable, such as spam messages, fraudulent solicitations, or requests to post, exchange, or remove information for compensation. We may also store information that you provide through communications with us, including from phone calls, letters, emails and other electronic messages, or in person. Any of our communications with you, including any phone calls, may be monitored and recorded for quality purposes. If you are a representative of an organization that is part of the FLEGV network (for example, through the map), or use a phone number associated now or previously with such an organization, we may contact you, including by phone or email, using the contact information you provide us, make publicly available, or that we have on record for your business.
- Transactions: If you initiate a transaction through the Services, such as making a donation, we may collect and store information you provide associated with your transaction, such as your name, phone number, address, email, and payment information, as well as any other information you provide relating to the transaction, in order to process your transaction, send you communications related to the transaction, and to facilitate future transactions. We may also use aggregated or anonymized information regarding those transactions for analytics purposes and to improve the Services. This information may be shared with third parties, and third parties may share such information with us, for the same purposes. When you submit credit card numbers and other sensitive payment information, that information is encrypted using industry standard technology.
- Activity: We may store information about your use of the Services, such as your search activity, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visits, We may also store information that your computer or mobile device may provide to us in connection with your use of the Services, such as your browser type, type of computer or mobile device, browser language, IP address, Wi-Fi information such as SSID, mobile carrier, phone number, unique device identifier, advertising identifier, location (including geolocation, beacon based location, and GPS location), and requested and referring URLs and mobile applications. We may also receive and store your location whenever an App is running, including when running in the background, if you enable our Apps to access such information in the course of using the Services. You may be able to limit or disallow our use of certain data through your device or browser settings, for example you may be able to limit or disallow our collection, use or sharing of location data or mobile advertising identifiers by adjusting the settings for our applications in iOS or Android privacy settings.
- Different Devices: You may access the Services through different devices (e.g., your mobile phone, personal computer, or other internet connected device) and different platforms. The information that we collect and store through those different uses may be cross-referenced and combined, and your contributions through one Yelp platform will typically be similarly visible and accessible through all other platforms.
Cookies
We may use various cookies on the website, including session ID cookies, non-persistent cookies, and persistent cookies. A cookie is a text file sent by a web server to a web browser, and stored by the browser. A text file is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. This enables the web server to identify and track the web browser, and load the pages according to a user’s preferences for that particular site, including personalization of content.
Cookies are also used to gather statistical data, such as which pages are visited, what is downloaded, the ISP’s domain name and country of origin, and the addresses of sites visited before and after coming to the Site.
We may send a cookie that can be stored by your browser on your computer’s hard drive, and use the information we obtain from the cookie in the administration of the Site, to ensure proper functioning of the Site, in terms of navigation and usability, and to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing efforts.
We may also use that information to recognize your computer when you visit the Site (if you select the “remember me on this computer” option, and to personalize the Site for you. Most browsers allow you to refuse to accept cookies. Blocking cookies, however, can also have a negative impact on the usability of many web sites. Cookies may have long-term expiration dates, or none, and thus can stay in your hard drive for months at a time. While you can remove them as instructed by the help content in your chosen browser, disabling cookies will prevent you from using certain features of the Site.
At no time do any of our cookies capture any personal information.
Web-related Information Collection
We may allow third-party ad networks to serve advertisements, provide other advertising services and/or collect certain information when you visit the Site. Third-party ad networks may use non-personally identifiable information (e.g., clickstream information, browser type, time and date, subject of advertisements clicked or scrolled over) during your visit to the Site in order to provide advertisements about goods and services likely to be of interest to you. Third-Party Websites
The Site and the Apps may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
The Site and the Apps may contain links to third party websites, and may redirect you to such third-party websites upon engagement. These sites include, among others, service providers who have a relationship with FLEGV. Third party websites are not under our control, and we are not responsible for any third-party websites, or the accuracy, sufficiency, correctness, reliability, veracity, completeness, or timeliness of their information, links, changes, or updates. The inclusion or access to these websites does not imply an endorsement by FLEGV, or of the provider of such content or services, or of any third-party website. Please be aware that when you enter a third-party website, any information you provide, including financial information, is subject to the terms of use and privacy notice of that website.
For your convenience, the Services may contain certain hyperlinks to other websites or apps offered by third parties. We make no promises or guarantees regarding data collection on any hyperlinked websites and apps that are not operated by Faith Leaders for Ending Gun Violence.
The Services may also include tools offered by third parties, such as our donations form; and social media tools or “plug-ins” from third parties, such as social networking and video streaming tools. If you create accounts with these third parties, use their tools on our Services, or otherwise interact with these third parties on the Services, the third parties may collect, use, and share such information in accordance with your account settings, including by sharing such information with the general public. These third-party partners may also provide your information to us for our own use.
Your interactions with third-party entities and your use of their features, websites, and apps are governed by the privacy notices of those third-party entities. We encourage you to carefully read the privacy notices of any accounts and tools that you use.
Information Sharing
To operate the Services, we may share personal information we collect with third party affiliates and/or service providers, including electronic payment service providers, accountants, auditors, attorneys, information technology consultants, advisors, and business partners.
While such third-party affiliates and service providers are not authorized by us to use or disclose the information except as necessary to perform services on our behalf or comply with legal requirements, their use of information is governed by their own privacy policies.
We may share our research or analysis of aggregated customer data or information we receive, but only in a way that would not allow you or any other person to be identified.
To provide a user experience consistent with your requests, we may share personal information with third party web-based mapping frameworks (e.g., Google Maps or Apple maps). When we share information with such other entities, it will be governed by their privacy policies. Please see “Your Choices” below for more information on opting out of such sharing.
From time to time, we may send you information from or share your personal information with other non-affiliated organizations think you might find interesting. When we share information with such organizations, it will be governed by their privacy policies. Please see “Your Choices” below for information on opting out of this sharing.
We may share information about you with United States, state, or international regulators, where we believe doing so is required or appropriate to comply with any laws, regulations, or other legal processes or law enforcement requests (e.g., court orders, search warrants, or subpoenas).
We may also disclose information about you with federal, state, or international regulators or authorities (i) where we believe doing so is required or appropriate to comply with laws or other legal processes, (ii) in response to a court order, search warrant, or subpoena from law enforcement or appropriate governmental body, (iii) when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual illegal activity, or (iv) if necessary to protect the vital interests of another individual (such as to prevent death, bodily harm, or serious damage to property) . We reserve the right to transfer information about our users.
In the event we sell or transfer all or substantially all our business or assets, such as through a merger, acquisition, or bankruptcy, we reserve the right to transfer information about our users.
We may share your information with the public if you provide such information via a public forum such as social media, chat, Discord, or other public manner.
We may share information that has been de-identified or aggregated, or any other technical information, without limitation.
Your Choices
You can unsubscribe from any Faith Leaders for Gun Violence email list at any time by following the instructions included within any email you receive from us. You can unsubscribe from our direct mail list at any time by emailing us at info@flegv.org. To opt-out of your data being shared with third-party affiliates and service providers, you may send an email to info@flegv.org. Note that opting-out may exclude you from being able to use some of our Services and in some cases may require deletion of your account and associated data.
Analytics
We may also work with third parties that collect data about your use of the Service and other websites or apps over time. We use Google Analytics and other third-party services to improve the performance of the Service and for analytics and marketing purposes. Compliance with State and Federal Laws
This privacy policy may not constitute your entire set of privacy rights, as these may also vary from state to state. To be certain of your privacy rights, you may wish to contact the appropriate agency in your state that is charged with overseeing privacy rights of consumers. Certain regulations issued by state and/or federal government agencies may require us to maintain and report demographic information on the collective activities of our membership. We may also be required to maintain your personal information for at least seven years in order to comply with applicable federal and state laws regarding recordkeeping, reporting and audits.
European Data Protection Rights
If you are located in the European Economic Area (“EEA”), United Kingdom or Switzerland, you may ask us to take the following actions in relation to your personal data that we hold:
- Provide you with information about our processing of your personal data and give you access to your personal data.
- Update or correct inaccuracies in your personal data.
- Delete your personal data.
- Transfer a machine-readable copy of your personal data to you or a third party of your choice.
- Restrict the processing of your personal data.
- Object to our processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes.
- Object to reliance on our legitimate interests as the basis for processing of your personal data.
You can submit these requests by email to info@flegv.org. We may request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity prior to processing your request. Applicable law may require or permit us to decline your request. If we decline your request, we will tell you why, subject to legal restrictions.

U.S. State Privacy Rights
For residents of California, Colorado, Virginia, Utah, or Connecticut, please see the Supplemental Notice attached as Appendix A hereto.
To exercise any of the rights described in the Supplemental Notice, you or your authorized agent may submit a request by sending an email with the subject line “Privacy Request” to info@flegv.org. While we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request, we reserve the right to impose certain restrictions or requirements on your request, if allowed by or required by applicable law.
If you have submitted a request that we have not reasonably fulfilled, you may contact us to appeal our decision by sending an email with the subject line “Privacy Appeal” to info@flegv.org.

Policy Updates
From time to time, we may update this Privacy Policy by updating this webpage and revising the effective date at the top of the page. If we make any material changes to our privacy practices, we will indicate within this Privacy Policy the date when it was most recently updated, and we shall provide appropriate notice of such material changes. Appendix A
Supplemental Privacy Notice
This Supplemental Privacy Notice (“Supplemental Notice”) applies only to information collected about users who reside in California, Colorado, Virginia, Utah, or Connecticut. It provides information required under the following laws (collectively, “U.S. State Privacy Laws”):
- California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 and California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (collectively, the “CPRA”)
- Colorado Privacy Act of 2021 (the “CPA”)
- Connecticut Data Privacy Act (“CTDPA”)
- Utah Consumer Privacy Act of 2022 (the “UCPA”)
- Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act of 2021 (the “VCDPA”)
We also provide information collected about Nevada users under the heading “Privacy Notice for Nevada Residents” at the end of this Supplemental Notice. The other portions of this Supplemental Notice do not apply to Nevada residents.
This Supplemental Notice is parallel in scope to our Privacy Policy, incorporates the definitions therein, and should be read in conjunction with the Privacy Policy. It describes FLEGV’s practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Data and provides instructions for submitting data subject requests.
Some portions of this Supplemental Notice apply only to consumers of particular states. In those instances, we have indicated that such language applies only to those consumers.
Definitions
“Personal Information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer or household. Personal Information includes Personal Data defined in the Privacy Policy, and also includes “Sensitive Personal Information,” as defined below, except where otherwise noted.
“Sensitive Personal Information” means Personal Information that reveals a consumer’s social security, driver’s license, state identification card, or passport number; account log-in, financial account number, debit card number, or credit card number in combination with any required security or access code, password, or credentials allowing access to an account; precise geolocation; racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, or union membership; contents of email or text messages; and genetic data. Sensitive Personal Information also includes processing of biometric information for the purpose of uniquely identifying a consumer and Personal Information collected and analyzed concerning a consumer’s health, sex life, or sexual orientation. Sensitive Personal Information also includes “sensitive data” as that term is defined in the applicable US State Privacy Law.
“Third Party” has the meanings afforded to it in the applicable U.S. State Privacy Law.
“Vendor” means a service provider, contractor, or processor as those terms are defined in the applicable US State Privacy Law.
To the extent other terms used in this Supplemental Notice are defined terms under the applicable U.S. State Privacy Law, they shall have the meanings afforded to them in those statutes, whether or not capitalized herein. As there are some variations between such definitions in each of the state statutes, the definitions applicable to you are those provided in the statute for the state in which you are a user. For example, if you are a Virginia resident, terms used in this Supplemental Notice that are defined terms in the VCDPA shall have the meanings afforded to them in the VCDPA as this Supplemental Notice applies to you.
Collection & Processing of Personal Information
We, and our Vendors, may have collected and processed the following categories of Personal Information about you in the preceding 12 months:
- Identifiers, such as name, alias, online identifiers, account name, physical characteristics or description;
- Contact and financial information, including phone number, address, email address, financial information, medical information, health insurance information;
- Characteristics of protected classifications under state or federal law, such as age, gender, race, physical or mental health conditions, and marital status;
- Commercial information, such as transaction information, payment information, tax withholding information and purchase history;
- Biometric information;
- Internet or other electronic network activity information, such as browsing history, search history and interactions with our websites or advertisements;
- Geolocation data, such as device location;
- Audio, electronic, visual and similar information, such as call and video recordings;
- Professional or employment-related information, such as specialty, education history, professional qualifications, work history and prior employer;

Retention of Personal Information
We retain your Personal Information for the period reasonably necessary to provide goods and services to you and for the period reasonably necessary to support our business operational purposes listed in Section E.

Disclosure for California Users
Unless specifically stated, we have not sold or shared Personal Information about California users to third parties for their own use in the past twelve months. Relatedly, we do not have actual knowledge that we sell or share Personal Information of California residents under 16 years of age. However, we may share your personal information with our affiliates and trusted partners in arrangements that may meet the broad definition of “sale” or “share” under California law. In these arrangements, use of the information we share is limited by policies, contracts, or similar restrictions.
For purposes of the CPRA, a “sale” is the disclosure of Personal Information to a Third Party for monetary or other valuable consideration, and a “share” is the disclosure of Personal Information to a Third Party for cross-context behavioral advertising, whether or not for monetary or other valuable consideration.
Disclosure for Colorado, Virginia, Utah, and Connecticut Consumers
Unless specifically stated, we do not sell or share Personal Information to Third Parties for their own use. However, we may share or process one or more of the above categories of personal information with our affiliates and trusted partners in arrangements for purposes of targeted advertising, as the terms “sell,” “share,” “process,” and “targeted advertising” are defined in the CPA, VCDPA, UCPA, and CTDPA. In these arrangements, use of the information we share is limited by policies, contracts or similar restrictions.
Sources from Which We Collect Personal Information
We collect Personal Information directly from California, Colorado, Virginia, Utah, and Connecticut consumers, as well as from our affiliates, business partners, joint marketing partners, public databases, providers of demographic data, publications, professional organizations, social media platforms, caregivers, third party information providers, affiliates with whom you have a business relationship, service providers with which we have a contractual relationship and to which you have provided your personal information, cookies and other tracking technologies, and Vendors and Third Parties when they share the information with us.
Purposes for Processing Personal Information
We, and our Vendors, collect and process the Personal Information (excluding Sensitive Personal Information) described in this Supplemental Notice to:
- Operate, manage, maintain, enhance, improve, and/or modify the Services;
- Respond to your inquiries and to fulfill your requests;
- Send you important information regarding our relationship with you or regarding the Services, changes to our terms, conditions, and policies and/or other administrative information;
- Conduct audits, to verify that our internal processes function as intended and are compliant with legal, regulatory, or contractual requirements;
- Prevent fraud or crime, and for risk and technical security monitoring purposes;
- Facilitate the development of the Services;
- Perform research, analytics and data analysis;
- Determine the effectiveness of our promotional campaigns, so that we can adapt our campaigns to the needs and interests of our users;
- Personalize, advertise, and market the Services;
- Comply with law, legal process, and internal policies;
- Maintain records;
- Exercise and defend legal claims; and
- Otherwise accomplish our business purposes and objectives.
We, and our Vendors, collect and process the Sensitive Personal Information described in this Supplemental Notice for:
- Providing the Services reasonably expected by a user thereof;
- Ensuring security and integrity to the extent the use of the user’s Personal Information is reasonably necessary and proportionate for these purposes;
- Maintaining or servicing accounts, providing customer service, processing payment information for donations, providing analytic services, providing storage, or providing similar services on our behalf;
- Undertaking activities to improve, upgrade, enhance the Services, and/or to verify or maintain the quality or safety of the Services;
- Marketing the Services;
- Conducting research, analytics, and data analysis;
- Performing accounting, audit, and other internal functions, such as internal investigations;
- Complying with law, legal process, and internal policies;
- Maintaining records;
- Exercising and defending legal claims; and
- Otherwise accomplishing our business purposes and objectives.
Categories of Entities to Whom We Disclose Personal Information
Affiliates & Vendors. We may disclose your Personal Information to our affiliates and Vendors for the purposes described in Section E of this US Annex. Our Vendors provide us with services for the Site, as well as other products and services, such as web hosting and moderating, mobile application hosting, data analysis, payment processing, order fulfillment, customer service, infrastructure provision, technology services, email and direct mail delivery services, auditing, legal services, and other similar services. We grant our Vendors access to Personal Information only to the extent needed for them to perform their functions, and require them to protect the confidentiality and security of such information.
Third Parties. We may disclose your Personal Information to the following categories of Third Parties:
At Your Direction. We may disclose your Personal Information to any Third Party with your consent or at your direction.
Business Transfers or Assignments. We may disclose your Personal Information to other entities as reasonably necessary to facilitate a reorganization, merger, sale, joint venture or collaboration, assignment, transfer, or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, assets, or stock (including in connection with any bankruptcy or similar proceedings).
Third Party Co-Branding and Co-Marketing Partners. We may share your Personal Information with our third-party partners with whom we offer a co-branded or co-marketed promotion.
Third Party Advertising Partners. To improve the effectiveness of our communication with you and our marketing campaigns, we may share our data with our third-party advertising partners, including social media, medical journals and publishers.
Legal and Regulatory. We may disclose your Personal Information to government authorities, including regulatory agencies and courts, as reasonably necessary for our business operational purposes, to assert and defend legal claims, and otherwise as permitted or required by law.
Data Subject Rights
Exercising Data Subject Rights. California, Colorado, Virginia Utah, and Connecticut users have certain rights with respect to the collection and use of their Personal Information. Verification of Data Subject Requests. We may ask you to provide information that will enable us to verify your identity in order to comply with your data subject request. In particular, when a California or Connecticut resident authorizes an agent to make a request on their behalf, we may require the agent to provide proof of signed permission from the user to submit the request, or we may require the user to verify their own identity to us or confirm with us that they provided the agent with permission to submit the request. In some instances, we may decline to honor your request if an exception applies under applicable law. We will respond to your request consistent with applicable law.

- The categories of sources from which we collected such Personal Information;
- The business or commercial purpose for collecting Personal Information about you;

Right to Receive Information About Onward Disclosures: You may request that we disclose to you:

- The categories of Personal Information we have disclosed about you for a business purpose and the categories of persons to whom it was disclosed for a business purpose.
Right to Non-Discrimination: You have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your data subject rights. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your data subject rights.
Right to Restrict or Limit the Use of Sensitive Personal Information: You have the right to restrict the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information to certain purposes related to the offering of goods or services as listed in the CPRA. Right to Opt Out of Sharing, Disclosure, or Sale of Personal Information: You have the right to direct us to not share, disclose, or sell your personal information. Other Disclosures
California Residents Under Age 18. If you are a resident of California under the age of 18 and a registered user of the Services, you may ask us to remove content or data that you have posted by contacting us at info@flegv.org. Please note that your request does not ensure complete or comprehensive removal of the content or data, as, for example, some of your content or data may have been reposted by another user.
Disclosure About Direct Marketing for California Residents. California Civil Code § 1798.83 permits California residents to annually request certain information regarding our disclosure of Personal Information to other entities for their direct marketing purposes in the preceding calendar year. We do not distribute your Personal Information to other entities for their own direct marketing purposes.
Changes to our Supplemental Notice. We reserve the right to amend this Supplemental Notice at our discretion and at any time. When we make material changes to this Supplemental Notice, we will notify you by posting an updated Supplemental Notice on the Site and listing the effective date of such updates.

This Privacy Notice for Nevada Residents adds to the information contained in the Privacy Policy, and applies only to Nevada residents (“You,” “your” or “user”).
